Le jeudi 2 octobre 2025, alors que la France manifeste, les salariés de la verrerie du Languedoc, à Vergèze (Gard), occupent depuis une semaine l’entrée de leur usine et l'entrée industrielle de Perrier, contre la suppression de 164 postes, conséquence de la fermeture annoncée de l’usine.

Propriété du groupe américain Owens-Illinois depuis 2011, la verrerie produit depuis 1973 des bouteilles destinées notamment à Perrier, installé à deux pas. Le 8 avril 2025, le groupe a officialisé son intention de fermer le site début 2026, dans le cadre d’un plan prévoyant 556 suppressions d'emplois à l’échelle nationale.

On Thursday, 2 October 2025, as France protests, workers at the Languedoc glass factory in Vergèze (Gard) have been occupying the entrance to their factory and the neighbouring Perrier industrial entrance for a week, opposing the elimination of 164 jobs following the announced closure of the factory.

Owned by the American group Owens-Illinois since 2011, the factory has been producing bottles, notably for Perrier, whose plant is located just a few steps away, since 1973. On April 8, 2025, the group confirmed its intention to close the site at the beginning of 2026, as part of a broader plan involving 556 job cuts nationwide.​
